Accounting Advisor

SUMMARY

Elgin-based Management Consulting firm has an excellent opportunity to grow its Fractional CFO, Controller, and Bookkeeping services. I am looking for an experienced accounting advisor who can work both at the strategic and transactional levels with clients and internal staff.

The ideal candidate for this position is reliable and committed to consistently meeting deadlines. This person will have a strong understanding of accounting processes, the ability to lead a team of individuals and be highly proficient in data analysis, entry, and auditing. The ideal candidate is comfortable holding themselves and others accountable and brings with them a strong foundation of understanding related to providing high-quality client service. 

CORE JOB DUTIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Financial Data Mastery – Review and analyze Monthly Financial Reports, Budgets, Tax Organizers, and special projects for accuracy in a timely manner.
  • Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to matters such as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data. Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper coding.
  • Able to conduct audits of financial data to ensure accuracy.
  • Client Management – Proactively identify client needs, ensuring client expectations are exceeded on a consistent basis. Conduct ongoing process improvement and appropriate follow-up activities to guarantee issue resolution.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to policies and procedures in support of client strategy and best practices.
  • Utilize financial prowess to ensure all client financials remain in good standing and meet any/all legal requirements.
  • Compile, review, and summarize data and/or prepare reports per client requests.
  • Team Leadership – Lead, guide, and support a team of associate advisors. Ensure clear expectations for performance are set and met in accordance with client expectations, accounting functions, and high-quality service.
  • Internal Role – Assist management with important financial decisions. Monitor companies’ financial reports and determine ways to reduce costs.
  • Compliance with any and all federal, state, local, and company policies, procedures, and regulations. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, accounting, or finance (Minimum, Required).
  • Valid PTIN (Required).
  • CPA or EA certification (Preferred but not required).
  • Understands entrepreneurial accounting, startup data, and financial modeling for startup businesses.
  • Ability to perform quick analysis of third-party financial models. 
  • Has a deep understanding of QuickBooks at all levels. 
  • Can create financial reports.
  • Can do transactional accounting tasks such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statements, and journal entries.
  • Has at least two years of business tax return experience in both completing and discussing them with small business owners.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

This position will be based in our Elgin office, and the working hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The company does provide the technology to have a hybrid schedule.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting one or many small businesses in their bookkeeping, accounting, and controller efforts. Qualified applicants must be results-driven, detail-oriented, dependable, and enjoy interacting with others by displaying strong client and team relations and communication skills. The individual will be adaptable and flexible and can pivot to different tasks throughout the day.
